Afternoon guys! (It is for me, might not be for you 😁)
I said I was going to leave this until after New year’s day but nope.. I want to leave more content on here. Want to hear about people’s experiences of working hard to reach a goal and how people react to that? I know there’s a lot of hard working students on Tumblr just from stumbling upon the fascinating ‘studyblr’ community or advice pasted all over The Student Room… so I know some people must relate to how I feel about my studying.
This is something I’ve wanted to explore for a while since I’m not sure whether I am or if I’m just listening to other people too much… since I’m aware we look to others to form beliefs about ourselves. I do have friends who tell me I need to relax more but I’m not sure whether it’s just me striving for the best grades and wanting to better myself.
Now I understand just because you want to do well it doesn’t mean you should shut people out or limit fun because you’re thinking ‘I haven’t finished that essay yet. I need to work on it before I watch more [insert netflix show, anime, breaking bad here].’ But the thing is, I do spend time playing games, sitting around gossiping and watching films with housemates/ uni friends. I’m starting to wonder if me being an introvert however makes people jump to the conclusion that I just sit in my room and work. Because trust me. I do not. I love to talk about my studies because I adore psychology, and by extension I always talk about my assignments.
SO – am I really a workaholic or just immensely passionate about anything psychology related.. even if that is me talking about my attraction essay for the millionth time?
Well I’ll say it – I enjoy being busy really.

I shall admit, sometimes I do struggle to switch off. I feel like recently however I’ve had little choice but to keep thinking about work. I had a presentation then 3 things are due in the same week in January and I wanted them done to enjoy my holiday more but guess what? I had an exam too, so I read over my revision cards for my Evolutionary Psychology exam and have attempted to do a lot of my research proposal about self esteem in relation to peer pressured binge drinking (I think I could relate to it on a level… Not a huge drinker but always end up thinking I’m a stick in the mud).
So it is possible that I find myself compelled to do work… people say I’m stressed but honestly? Every now and then I feel at home sitting down and reading through articles and formulating my piece… I get stressed when I know in about a week I’ve not sat down and inputted into my work in any form because my friends been keeping me busy. I like my alone time, sitting and doing work is quite comforting considering I’ve spent years being the same way really.. studying alone at home.
Maybe I should be relaxing more considering if I do become a psychologist I’ll need to learn to shut it off when I’m at home. But it seems a bit hard wired in at the moment to just shut off my brain that honestly never shuts up.

That’s all I have to say really :3
How do you guys feel about your studies/work? Do you have friends around you that say you work too hard? Would you say it is tough to break out of old habits?

P. S. – I couldn’t help but think of Computer Boy by Poppy when I was writing this… People really love to say to me I study too much but I promise them I’m not literally in love with my laptop screen :3
